Texas Instruments (TI)has announced an unprecedented investment of more than $60 billion to expand semiconductor manufacturing across seven U.S.-based fabrication sites, marking the largest investment in foundational chip manufacturing in U.S. history. Working in collaboration with the Trump administration and building on nearly 100 years of technological excellence, TI aims to significantly scale its U.S. manufacturing footprint to meet growing semiconductor demand and empower innovation in key industries including automotive, smartphones, and data centers. The new manufacturing sites in Texas and Utah are expected to create over 60,000 jobs, accelerating domestic chip production and strengthening the supply chain.

Haviv Ilan, President and CEO of Texas Instruments, stated:“TI is making a historic investment to build reliable, cost-effective 300mm manufacturing capacity in the U.S. for analog and embedded processing chips essential to nearly every electronic system. We’re proud to support leading companies like Apple, Ford, Medtronic, NVIDIA, and SpaceX—and to collaborate with the U.S. government to unlock America's full innovation potential.”

A National Priority for Semiconductor Leadership
Howard Lutnick, U.S. Secretary of Commerce, added:“For nearly a century, TI has stood at the forefront of American technological and manufacturing innovation. President Trump has made revitalizing U.S. semiconductor manufacturing a top priority, especially for foundational chips that power everyday electronics. Our partnership with TI will shape the trajectory of American chipmaking for decades to come.”

Partnering Across Industries to Power the Future
Apple CEO Tim Cook praised TI’s role:“Texas Instruments’ U.S.-manufactured chips bring Apple products to life. Together, we are investing in the future of advanced American manufacturing and continuing to foster innovation and opportunity.”
Ford Motor Company CEO Jim Farley remarked:“80% of the vehicles Ford sells in the U.S. are assembled here. Partnering with TI, a champion of American semiconductor manufacturing, helps us strengthen domestic supply chains and drive innovation in future mobility.”
Geoff Martha, Chairman and CEO of Medtronic, emphasized TI’s critical role in healthcare:“Our life-saving technologies rely on precision semiconductors. TI was a vital partner during the global chip shortage, helping us maintain supply and accelerate breakthrough therapies. Their U.S.-made chips will help us continue transforming care for patients around the world.”
NVIDIA Founder and CEO Jensen Huang shared:“NVIDIA and TI are united in our goal of building the next generation of AI infrastructure in America. We’re excited to deepen our collaboration to support cutting-edge AI systems through American-made chips.”
SpaceX President and COO Gwynne Shotwell stated:“TI’s advanced SiGe chips—made right here in Sherman, Texas—are vital to Starlink. Their reliability and performance are crucial as we scale production of satellite internet systems to meet surging global demand. TI's commitment to domestic manufacturing directly supports our mission to bridge the digital divide.”

Building America's Semiconductor Future
TI is at the forefront of reshoring and expanding U.S. chip production, with an ambitious plan to build and enhance seven interconnected fabs across three manufacturing hubs in Texas and Utah. These facilities will produce hundreds of millions of chips daily, laying the foundation for America’s next era of tech innovation.
Key Sites:
  • Sherman, Texas:The first fab (SM1) is set to begin production this year—just three years after breaking ground. Construction of a second fab (SM2) is also well underway, with SM3 and SM4 planned for future capacity needs.
  • Richardson, Texas:TI’s RFAB2 is now fully operational, expanding upon the legacy of RFAB1—the world’s first 300mm analog wafer fab launched in 2011.
  • Lehi, Utah:Construction of TI’s first fab in Lehi (LFAB1) is progressing rapidly, with work on a second connected fab (LFAB2) already in motion.
With this massive investment, TI reaffirms its role as a cornerstone of America’s semiconductor ecosystem, empowering industries, driving innovation, and ensuring that the U.S. remains a global technology leader.
